Information on German tolls and ETS
Dear Customer,
We are writing to inform you about a couple of changes that will be taking place in the near future and that will result in increased transport costs.
GERMAN TOLLS (“MAUT”)
As of 1 December 2023, the German government will be almost doubling the level of official tolls compared to their current levels.
Once this change enters into force, we will display the updated toll rates on our website. Customers whose prices include German tolls will be charged a new tariff.
ETS
As of 1 January 2024, sea transports will be covered by the EU’s ETS (Emission Trading System) scheme, which is designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This means that the shipping companies will be subject to a new tax, which they will pass on through an extra charge to their customers.
Unfortunately, we therefore have no choice but to introduce an ETS surcharge (based on expenditure) as of 1 January 2024. This surcharge will vary depending on which countries shipments are collected from and delivered to and will be adjusted monthly.
If you have any questions about these changes, please contact your assigned contact person at CargoCare.
